As an Olympic athlete, Carl Lewis was part of five American Olympic Teams, winning 10 medals, nine of them gold. With unsurpassed talent in the long jump and his speed in the sprints, he has gone places where no other track and field athlete has ever visited. His five Olympic appearances are a record for a male athlete, and many of his Olympic performances were in world or Olympic record time.
In April of 2018, Des Linden braved headwinds and torrential rain to become the first US women’s champion at the Boston Marathon since 1985. Her win was one for the record books as she bested the field and the worst conditions in race history. In the spring of 2021, Des set the World Record for the 50k, running 2:59:54. In the fall of 2023 Des set the US Master’s Marathon Record, running 2:27:35.

Conrad is a living legend, having spent his life pushing the limits of big mountain climbing and exploring places unknown. As one of America’s best alpinists with many first ascents across the world, including the Shark’s Fin peak as shown in the hit documentary Meru, he’s known for his visionary approach to mountaineering and his ability to withstand hardship.

Laz Lake
Lazarus Lake (aka Gary Cantrell) is the man behind the revered and feared Barkley Marathons. Known to many as one of the toughest races on earth, the route involves 5 x 20 miles laps and 66,000 ft of unmarked ascent in and around Frozen Head Park in Tennessee. It has been completed only 18 times by 15 runners since 1989.
